Vanmorgen vond ik Rosanna's swap in de brievenbus! Toen ik het pakketje opende, zag ik drie snoepjes van kussentjes die als kleine juweeltjes in een doosje Genoaanse lekkernijen gepresenteerd waren.
This morning Rosanna's swap arrived! When I opened the parcel, I found three beautifully embroidered pillows looking like little jewels, deliciously presented in a box of Genoan sweets.
Rosanna komt uit Genua in Italië en de kaart die bij de swap zat is een mooie gravure 'Veduta del Porto di Genova' (Gezicht op de Haven van Genua). Op de kaart schreef zij dat de kussentjes voor mij waren, maar de snoepjes waren een cadeautje voor mijn zoon. Het behoeft geen uitleg dat ze ons daar beiden erg blij mee maakte!
Rosanna's home town is Genoa in Italy and the card she sent me accompanying the swap is a beautiful engraving 'Veduta del Porto di Genova' (View of the Port of Genoa). On the card she wrote that the pillows were for me, but the sweets were a gift for my son. Needless to say, that made us both very happy!
Een tijdje geleden, toen Rosanna (La Casa Rossa and La Stanza di Giuggiola) en ik afspraken om een swap te doen, stuurde ik haar een aantal staaltjes toe van het behang en de stoffen die ik in de slaapkamer gebruikt had. Rosanna heeft de staaltjes gebruikt bij het ontwerpen en borduren van de kussentjes.
Some time ago when Rosanna (La Casa Rossa and La Stanza di Giuggiola) and I agreed on doing this swap (see also previous post), I sent Rosanna a few swatches of wallpaper and fabric I had used in the bedroom. Rosanna used the swatches to design and embroider these three pillows for me.
Ik kan je niet zeggen hoe blij ik ben met de ontwerpen die Rosanna voor me gekozen heeft. De kussens staan prachtig in mijn slaapkamer. Ik vind de rode geweldig door zijn ogenschijnlijke eenvoud en omdat het zo perfect past bij het dessin van het rode dekbed.
Het 'toile' kussentje is zo mooi. De positionering van het patroon, met de boom, het meisje en de weg in de cirkel...precies goed, prachtig.
I can't begin to tell you how pleased I am with the designs Rosanna chose for me. The pillows look beautiful in my bedroom. I love the red one because of the apparent symplicity and its perfect match to the pattern of the red cover on the bed. And the 'toile' pillow is so very, very pretty. The whole positioning of that pattern, with the tree, the girl and the road within the circle...just enough, beautiful.
Het gestreepte kussentje is perfect met juist dat kleine beetje groen dat je ook weer terug vindt in een paar accessoires in de slaapkamer en natuurlijk ook in het streepje van de stof op de stoel. De bloemen van het kussen refereren aan de pioenen die op de ladenkast staan.
Niet alleen de voorkant van de kussens zijn mooi gemaakt, de achterkant is prachtig afgewerkt in zijde in de kleur van de borduursels.
Heel hartelijk dank voor deze kunstwerkjes Rosanna. De kussentjes zijn een ware schat waar ik erg blij mee ben!
The striped one is so perfect with just that little bit of green which picks up the green accents in the room and of course the tiny stripe in the fabric. The flowers in that one perfectly refer to my peonies.
Not only the front of the pillows are beautifully made, the backs are done in silk in colours perfectly matching the embroideries.
Thank you Rosanna for such lovely works of art. I will treasure them!
